This Week in Legacy: The Bluest of Cloudposts

Howdy folks! It's time yet again for another edition of This Week in Legacy! I'm your host, Joe Dyer, and this week we're going to be taking a look at a fun development in decks playing Cloudpost. In addition to that we've got some H2H data to look at as well as Challenges from last week. I did take last week off, it was a bit of a tiring week for me unfortunately.

Without further ado, let's dive right in!

I'm As Blue as a Cloudpost

I always really dig when people start trying new things with an existing shell. In this case, it's the Cloudpost shell (a package that generally has included both Posts plus new card Planar Nexus).

$ 0.00 $ 0.00   $ 0.00 $ 0.00

Traditionally a lot of these decks involving these cards are centered in green, with things like Once Upon a Time or other green cards. Whenever the deck has dipped into blue in the past it has been for cards that generally play well with green. But there's one blue card that as of late has really proven how incredibly powerful it is and that is Stock Up.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Stock Up is a great reason to be fully centered in blue, largely because of how good it is at finding cards you need and how good that card quality is. Because you're playing Stock Up though, you can also play Force of Will! Now we have BLUE CLOUDPOST!

Loading Indicator

This list has a number of really strong cards in it. With Force of Will to back up the very powerful big plays that this deck can make with all the mana it has, it can make some very big plays like Kozilek's Command and Ugin, Eye of the Storms, much of which are cards that you have to try to answer or lose the game to.

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

In addition to these big plays, you also get some really cool cards like Tishana's Tidebinder, which can counter various abilities and that makes it a really versatile and powerful card. Karn, the Great Creator also allows you to be versatile in being able to find silver bullets out of the sideboard.

This deck is making the rounds lately and it's looking really good, which is exciting to see.

H2H Data for Week of 9/29/2025

Since we're heading towards Eternal Weekend soon, I figured it would be good to bring this into the fold of these articles week to week. In addition with the move of the BnR to two weeks before it was scheduled, I think it's a good idea to get a feel for where Legacy is on a regular basis. This data goes back to the bannings in March.

So as it stands at the moment, Legacy still seems to be in a spot where Dimir Reanimator has a very strong across the board win-rate. In fact it's worst matchups really do seem to be things like D&T, Eldrazi/Red Stompy, Lands, and Nadu. It's pretty positive across the board in most common matchups. It's also pretty clear that decks like Beanstalk Control are just absolutely struggling across the board.

The answer for this format currently seems to be playing decks that are proactive and do strong things and not reactive control. Beans just does not cut it, especially when the format's most popular deck is so good against it in general.

It still seems like Lands as well is solid in this current world, with having a positive matchup versus Dimir among other things.

Regardless I think Legacy could use a little TLC and I do think most of that is centered in dealing with Dimir Reanimator. Either way, we'll keep doing these blurbs on the current H2H data as that grows and we have more decks added to it.

Dimir Reanimator was the most played deck, and it had a pretty strong non-mirror win rate of 56.25%. Red Stompy, Cephalid Breakfast, and Grixis Control all looked pretty good. Jeskai Control seemed to do rather poorly.

Let's take a look at the Top 8.

Fairly stock looking list here. Three Daze is interesting, because usually it's a four-of, but I think three Brazen Borrower seems really strong right now.

In Second Place we had Red Stompy.

Loading Indicator

Since the rules change to Sagas this is what we've really come to expect out of the deck. Having Saga and stuff like Bombardiers seems quite good.

Legacy Challenge 32 9/26/2025

The second Challenge event of the week was the Friday event. This event had 42 players in it thanks to the MTGO website.

You can find the Top 32 decklists for this event here and the data sheet here.

Dimir Reanimator was the most played deck, and despite a Top 8 appearance its win rate was less than 50%. This happens sometimes. Red Stompy and Mystic Forge both looked good here while Oops was not good at all.

Let's take a look at the Top 8.

Tezzeret seems so very good in this deck. It is a tutor, an untap engine, and so much more.

In Second Place we had Dimir Reanimator.

Twisted Image is kind of a wild sideboard card here. Hilarious way to kill an opposing Tamiyo.

Legacy Challenge 32 9/27/2025

You can find the Top 32 decklists for this event here and the data sheet here.

Bit of Reanimator and Eldrazi. At the end of the event it was Dimir Reanimator that won.

Pretty clear straight on list here, but nothing really crazy.

In Second Place we had Sneak and Show.

Loading Indicator

Even two main deck Ghost Vacuum could not put Reanimator away. This is a neat list though. Yggdrasil, Rebirth Engine in the sideboard is cool.

Legacy Challenge 32 9/28/2025 - 1

The fourth Challenge event of the week was the first Sunday event. This event had 40 players in it thanks to the MTGO website.

You can find the Top 32 decklists for this event here and the data sheet here.

Dimir Reanimator was again the most played deck of the event and its win rate in this event was almost 70%. Wild. Mystic Forge also looked great here while stuff like Lands and Red Stompy seemed to look poor.

Let's take a look at the Top 8.

Deck Name Placing MTGO Username
Dimir Reanimator 1st Lord_Beerus
Mystic Forge Combo 2nd musasabi
Dimir Reanimator 3rd Munchlax446
Cephalid Breakfast 4th ford0076
Oops! All Spells 5th TheGrimLavamancer
Dimir Reanimator 6th Maxtortion
Dimir Reanimator 7th lia2022
Izzet Tempo 8th run1998

Half of the Top 8 is Dimir Reanimator, and in fact it won the event.

Loading Indicator

There isn't a lot going on here that we haven't seen already. Still find Twisted Image funny though.

In Second Place we had Mystic Forge Combo.

Loading Indicator

Main deck Portable Hole is kind of sweet, given that Tezzeret can pick it up for you. Pretty cool.

YORION CREATIVE TECHNIQUE. Wild. Super wild. This deck is something else.

In Second Place we had Jeskai Control.

Loading Indicator

Vivi is a cool inclusion here. Being able to enable Flame of Anor is pretty powerful right now, and it's a solid card in these Jeskai shells.
