Streets of New Capenna Removal List


This is a list of all the removal in Streets of New Capenna, divided into permanent creature removal, temporary creature removal (such as bounce, tap, and falter effects), non-creature removal, and off-battlefield removal (hand, stack, and graveyard).

Notes

  • Scheming Fence is listed as both creature and artifact/enchantment removal since it can turn off activated abilities of any nonland permanent.

  • Public Enemy is not listed as creature removal even though it can force your opponent's creatures to attack because there are a number of ways your opponent can avoid its effect (by killing it prior to combat, using a creature's tap ability, etc.)
  • Arc Spitter is not listed as creature removal because it requires your opponent to block the equipped creature with the creature you want to kill.
  • Pugnacious Pugilist, Maestros Diabolist, and Ob Nixilis, the Adversary are not listed as creature removal because a lot of things have to happen in order to do one point of damage to an opponent's creature.
  • Lord Xander, the Collector is not listed as artifact/enchantment removal even though it can result in your opponent sacrificing one of them because creatures are the primary type of nonland permanent in Limited, so it is very unlikely to remove a problematic artifact or enchantment.
  • Ob Nixilis, the Adversary is not listed as off-battlefield removal since the opponent can pay two life instead of discarding a card.
  • Mage's Attendant is not listed under off-battlefield removal since it just requires your opponent to pay one additional mana, and so it seems unlikely to counter many spells in Limited.
  • I'm not listing Planeswalker removal since there are only three Planeswalkers in the set, all at Mythic, so it will rarely come up in Limited.

Hold for Ransom Common Enchantment Enchant creature Enchanted creature can't attack or block and has "{7}: Hold for Ransom's controller sacrifices it and draws a card. Activate only as a sorcery."
Kill Shot Common Instant Destroy target attacking creature.
Depopulate Rare Sorcery Each player who controls a multicolored creature draws a card. Then destroy all creatures.
Buy Your Silence Common Sorcery Exile target nonland permanent. Its controller creates a Treasure token. (It's an artifact with "{T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.")
Mysterious Limousine Rare Artifact Whenever Mysterious Limousine enters the battlefield or attacks, exile up to one other target creature until Mysterious Limousine leaves the battlefield. If a creature is put into exile this way, return each other card exiled with Mysterious Limousine to the battlefield under its owner's control. Crew 2
Blue Witness Protection Common Enchantment Enchant creature Enchanted creature loses all abilities and is a green and white Citizen creature with base power and toughness 1/1 named Legitimate Businessperson. (It loses all other colors, card types, creature types, and names.)
Sleep with the Fishes Uncommon Enchantment Enchant creature When Sleep with the Fishes enters the battlefield, tap enchanted creature and you create a 1/1 blue Fish creature token with "This creature can't be blocked." Enchanted creature doesn't untap during its controller's untap step.
Black Grisly Sigil Uncommon Sorcery Casualty 1 (As you cast this spell, you may sacrifice a creature with power 1 or greater. When you do, copy this spell and you may choose new targets for the copy.) Choose target creature or planeswalker. If it was dealt noncombat damage this turn, Grisly Sigil deals 3 damage to it and you gain 3 life. Otherwise, Grisly Sigil deals 1 damage to it and you gain 1 life.
/ Whack Uncommon Sorcery This spell costs {3} less to cast if it targets a white creature. Target creature gets -4/-4 until end of turn.
Incriminate Common Sorcery Choose two target creatures controlled by the same player. That player sacrifices one of them.
Murder Common Instant Destroy target creature.
/ Night Clubber Uncommon Creature When Night Clubber enters the battlefield, creatures your opponents control get -1/-1 until end of turn. Blitz {2}{B} (If you cast this spell for its blitz cost, it gains haste and "When this creature dies, draw a card." Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.) 2/2
Raffine's Silencer Uncommon Creature When Raffine's Silencer enters the battlefield, it connives. (Draw a card, then discard a card. If you discarded a nonland card, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.) When Raffine's Silencer dies, target creature an opponent controls gets -X/-X until end of turn, where X is Raffine's Silencer's power. 1/1
Deal Gone Bad Common Instant Target creature gets -3/-3 until end of turn. Target player mills three cards. (They put the top three cards of their library into their graveyard.)
Dusk Mangler Uncommon Creature As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a creature, discard a card, or pay 4 life. When Dusk Mangler enters the battlefield, each opponent sacrifices a creature, discards a card, and loses 4 life. 5/4
Red Strangle Common Sorcery Strangle deals 3 damage to target creature or planeswalker.
Torch Breath Uncommon Instant This spell costs {2} less to cast if it targets a blue permanent. This spell can't be countered. Torch Breath deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker.
Light 'Em Up Common Sorcery Casualty 2 (As you cast this spell, you may sacrifice a creature with power 2 or greater. When you do, copy this spell and you may choose new targets for the copy.) Light 'Em Up deals 2 damage to target creature or planeswalker.
Call In a Professional Uncommon Instant Players can't gain life this turn. Damage can't be prevented this turn. Call In a Professional deals 3 damage to any target. (Shield counters don't prevent this damage as they're removed.)
Pyre-Sledge Arsonist Uncommon Creature {1}, {T}: Pyre-Sledge Arsonist deals X damage to any target, where X is the number of permanents you've sacrificed this turn. 2/2
Ready to Rumble Common Sorcery Choose one — • Ready to Rumble deals 5 damage to target creature or planeswalker. • Destroy target artifact.
Structural Assault Rare Sorcery Destroy all artifacts, then Structural Assault deals damage to each creature equal to the number of artifacts that were put into graveyards from the battlefield this turn.
Green / Bouncer's Beatdown Uncommon Instant This spell costs {2} less to cast if it targets a black permanent. Bouncer's Beatdown deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker, where X is the greatest power among creatures you control. If that creature or planeswalker would die this turn, exile it instead.
Prizefight Common Instant Target creature you control fights target creature you don't control. (Each deals damage equal to its power to the other.) Create a Treasure token. (It's an artifact with "{T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.")
/ Riveteers Decoy Uncommon Creature Riveteers Decoy must be blocked if able. Blitz {3}{G} (If you cast this spell for its blitz cost, it gains haste and "When this creature dies, draw a card." Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.) 3/1
Broken Wings Common Instant Destroy target artifact, enchantment, or creature with flying.
Multi-Color Fatal Grudge Uncommon Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, sacrifice a nonland permanent. Each opponent chooses a permanent they control that shares a type with the sacrificed permanent and sacrifices it. Draw a card.
Scheming Fence Rare Creature As Scheming Fence enters the battlefield, you may choose a nonland permanent. Activated abilities of the chosen permanent can't be activated. Scheming Fence has all activated abilities of the chosen permanent except for loyalty abilities. You may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to activate those abilities. 2/3
Brokers Charm Uncommon Instant Choose one — • Target creature you control gets +1/+0 until end of turn. It deals damage equal to its power to target creature or planeswalker an opponent controls. • Destroy target enchantment. • Draw two cards.
Cabaretti Charm Uncommon Instant Choose one — • Cabaretti Charm deals damage equal to the number of creatures you control to target creature or planeswalker. • Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain trample until end of turn. • Create two 1/1 green and white Citizen creature tokens.
Lagrella, the Magpie Uncommon Creature When Lagrella, the Magpie enters the battlefield, exile any number of other target creatures controlled by different players until Lagrella leaves the battlefield. When an exiled card enters the battlefield under your control this way, put two +1/+1 counters on it. 2/3
Maestros Charm Uncommon Instant Choose one — • Look at the top five cards of your library. Put one of those cards into your hand and the rest into your graveyard. • Each opponent loses 3 life and you gain 3 life. • Maestros Charm deals 5 damage to target creature or planeswalker.
Obscura Charm Uncommon Instant Choose one — • Return target multicolored permanent card with mana value 3 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped. • Counter target instant or sorcery spell. • Destroy target creature or planeswalker with mana value 3 or less.
Riveteers Charm Uncommon Instant Choose one — • Target opponent sacrifices a creature or planeswalker they control with the highest mana value among creatures and planeswalkers they control. • Exile the top three cards of your library. Until your next end step, you may play those cards. • Exile target player's graveyard.
Corpse Explosion Rare Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, exile a creature card from your graveyard. Corpse Explosion deals damage equal to the exiled card's power to each creature and each planeswalker.
Incandescent Aria Rare Sorcery Incandescent Aria deals 3 damage to each nontoken creature.
Void Rend Rare Instant This spell can't be countered. Destroy target nonland permanent.
Unleash the Inferno Rare Instant Unleash the Inferno deals 7 damage to target creature or planeswalker. When it deals excess damage this way, destroy target artifact or enchantment an opponent controls with mana value less than or equal to that amount of excess damage.
Hostile Takeover Rare Sorcery Up to one target creature has base power and toughness 1/1 until end of turn. Up to one other target creature has base power and toughness 4/4 until end of turn. Then Hostile Takeover deals 3 damage to each creature.
Ziatora, the Incinerator Mythic Creature Flying At the beginning of your end step, you may sacrifice another creature. When you do, Ziatora, the Incinerator deals damage equal to that creature's power to any target and you create three Treasure tokens. 6/6
Soul of Emancipation Rare Creature When Soul of Emancipation enters the battlefield, destroy up to three other target nonland permanents. For each of those permanents, its controller creates a 3/3 white Angel creature token with flying. 5/7
Lord Xander, the Collector Mythic Creature When Lord Xander, the Collector enters the battlefield, target opponent discards half the cards in their hand, rounded down. Whenever Lord Xander attacks, defending player mills half their library, rounded down. When Lord Xander dies, target opponent sacrifices half the nonland permanents they control, rounded down. 6/6

Psychic Pickpocket Uncommon Creature When Psychic Pickpocket enters the battlefield, it connives. When it connives this way, return up to one target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. (To have a creature connive, draw a card, then discard a card. If you discarded a nonland card, put a +1/+1 counter on that creature.) 3/2
All-Seeing Arbiter Mythic Creature Flying Whenever All-Seeing Arbiter enters the battlefield or attacks, draw two cards, then discard a card. Whenever you discard a card, target creature an opponent controls gets -X/-0 until your next turn, where X is the number of different mana values among cards in your graveyard. 5/4
Red / Plasma Jockey Common Creature Whenever Plasma Jockey attacks, target creature an opponent controls can't block this turn. Blitz {2}{R} (If you cast this spell for its blitz cost, it gains haste and "When this creature dies, draw a card." Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.) 3/1
Involuntary Employment Uncommon Sorcery Gain control of target creature until end of turn. Untap that creature. It gains haste until end of turn. Create a Treasure token. (It's an artifact with "{T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.")
Sizzling Soloist Uncommon Creature Alliance — Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, target creature an opponent controls can't block this turn. If this is the second time this ability has resolved this turn, that creature attacks during its controller's next combat phase if able. 3/2
Multi-Color Celestial Regulator Common Creature Flying When Celestial Regulator enters the battlefield, choose target creature you don't control and tap it. If you control a creature with a counter on it, the chosen creature doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step. 2/3

Spara's Adjudicators Common Creature When Spara's Adjudicators enters the battlefield, target creature an opponent controls can't attack or block until your next turn. {2}, Exile Spara's Adjudicators from your hand: Target land gains "{T}: Add {G}, {W}, or {U}" until Spara's Adjudicators is cast from exile.
