Much Abrew: Maddening Hex (Timeless)
Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of Much Abrew About Nothing. Maddening Hex is a very interesting card. The new-to-Arena Duskmourn Special Guest Curse enchants an opponent. Whenever they cast a noncreature spell, they have to roll a D6 and take damage equal to the result; then, the card—which was originally designed for Commander—passes to another opponent at random. But we're playing Timeless, not Commander, which means there's no other opponent to pass the curse to, so once we play it, our opponent is stuck with it forever. So, every noncreature spell they cast will deal them a random amount of damage (3.5 on average). The plan of our deck today is to back up Maddening Hex with other repeatable damage sources like Roiling Vortex, Eidolon of the Great Revel, and Chandra, Dressed to Kill and trust that our opponent will end up burning themselves out of the game as they cast their spells with Maddening Hex damage! How good is Maddening Hex is Timeless? What happens if a game of Magic literally comes down to the roll of a die? Let's get to the game and find out!
