Fish Five-0: Naya Dinos! (Standard, Magic Arena)
Today we're going to try to get a nice record like __OVC__ did with this prehistoric list!...
Gameplan
The plan is really simple. Prove we're the biggest threats on board with our massive dinosaurs. What's even scarier is when our big dinosaurs have haste thanks to Rhythm of the Wild.
This card will help our big threats attack upon immediately hitting the board or if needed, we can add a +1/+1 counter to grow bigger than the opposing threats. If we have multiple Rhythms then it's even more bonkers as they all stack! Can you imagine reading riot all over our Carnage Tyrant? It'll almost be as if Carnage Tyrant was also a huge fan of Paramore *ba dum tss* What else has been added to this list since we last checked on it? We added a threat that is lower on our curve but still aligns with our aggressive gameplan in Gruul Spellbreaker!
This card had a ton of hype in the spoiler season but hasn't really been played as much as we all thought it would! Don't worry though, it's still a very good card and it's even better when it's paired with some sweet dinos as this helps fill our awkward three drop slot in dinosaurs which previously was occupied by a lonely Thrashing Brontodon. This card will also allow us to play around Settle the Wreckage!
Why the White Splash?
We get an efficient sweeper in Deafening Clarion which helps us live long enough to set up our game plan. Not only does it help with the setup but it can also keep us alive as our threats can actually survive to see the lifelink go to use!
We also get to add our guardian angel in Shalai, Voice of Plenty
Shalai can help protect our Regisaur Alpha and other dinos as Shalai will make our opponent jump through more hoops to kill if they're relying on a ton of spot removal. Often people forget that Shalai also has an activated ability that can help pump our threats out of range of a Find // Finality!
Conclusion
I think the deck's got some new legs as Rhythm of the Wild was sweet with this deck and Gruul Spellbreaker definitely puts in work but I did have some issues with the mana. I think running only 23 is a bit scary. We don't need to go up by much but maybe just going up to 24 or 25 lands could be beneficial. We also are desperately in need of ways to deal with flying threats mainboard. I see we have a few sweet cards in the sideboard like Vivien Reid that could be in the main. There may be room for some main deck Collision // Colossus as that can pack the final bit of force with Spellbreaker to close out a game and not worry about getting blown out by spot removal. Overall, if you're a fan of dinos then I would definitely give this deck a shot!
Thanks for watching and reading! I'll see you all at the next one!
