Commander Clash S5 E13: Mono White Week! (Brigid vs. Eight-and-a-Half-Tails vs. Evra vs. Teshar)

Welcome back to Commander Clash! Guilds of Ravnica has arrived and to celebrate the release we ... well, we wanted to show off the new commanders from the set, but supplies were limited/non-existent at the time we recorded this, so we couldn't do a GRN episode for this week. Look, we're not fancy shmancy Game Knights with their early access to cards; we here at Commander Clash are stuck with the whims of Magic Online, and the ghost of Worth is a capricious master.

Whatever, we don't want to do a GRN episode anyway! It's dumb and everyone else is doing it, and we here at MTGGoldfish are far too hipster for that noise! So instead we'll be doing something far more unique and interesting: behold, Mono White Week! Each of us built a deck using the weakest of the mono colors to see what sweet brews can come from it. For this week we decided to house ban Iona, Shield of Emeria because multiples of that card would be awful, and also ban Sram, Senior Edificer as a commander because Cheerios is way too good without someone else stopping him with Stax -- and nobody wants to see Stax. Here's what we picked:

  • Richard pilots Kithkin Tribal for a second time, looking to get revenge with an updated list led by Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile
  • Seth plays a Lifegain Shenanigans deck, using his life total as a resource with Evra, Halcyon Witness
  • Tomer goes for a meta pick, building an Anti-White deck with an Equipment theme led by Eight-and-a-Half-Tails
  • Vincent decides to play a "nice" deck, opting not to run Stax again and instead tries out Eggs Combo with Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle

Can the crew manage to make Mono White decks look good? Let's find out! But first, a quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash. and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Next Week: Guilds of Ravnica!

Surprise, surprise: we're actually going to be covering the new commanders from Guilds of Ravnica! Since there are exactly eight new commander options, we'll be showcasing all of them over the next two weeks! As always, we love hearing from you all: got some ideas for episode themes? Want to see us play a particular commander? Any other comments, questions, criticisms? Feel free to tweet me @BudgetCommander or email me at tomer@mtggoldfish.com !
