Commander Clash S3 Episode 9: White Elephant
Hello and welcome to Commander Clash, a video series where several MTGGoldfish contributors battle in a four player Commander game for fun and bragging rights. This week is dubbed White Elephant, where we build decks that we gift to someone else to pilot. Here's what we brewed up this time:
- Tom gifts a strange and unorthodox Mono Blue Aura to Tomer, led by Hakim, Loreweaver,
- Jennifer builds a "fair" deck for Seth focused on going wide with combat damage and death by a giant Thromok the Insatiable
- Seth sees the hate that Jennifer gets for playing Infect and similar strategies and decides to one-up the hate with a Stax deck led by the despised Oloro, Ageless Ascetic
- Tomer gifts Tom the least aggressive deck possible with a durdly, controlling, "draw go" style 5C Cycling deck under the command of Horde of Notions
Each deck is made to be sweet and entertaining, but probably isn't the type of deck that its gifted pilot would end up running. Can we make the decks work despite being pulled out of our usual comfort zones? Let's find out! But first, a quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Post-Game Thoughts
Still not sure if I should've used Curse of the Swine way earlier. Oh well!
The decks were sweet. The specific board state did counter the decks that Seth and I were running; my goodness is Astral Slide such a beating! Even without blinking your own creatures for ETB abuse, it's just so powerful and flexibile. I do want to try out Hakim, Loreweaver again in a game where Slide isn't immediately dropped down, or at least a Green/White deck is able to destroy it.
Next Week: Commander Anthology!
We're celebrating the Commander Anthology by playing three of the four preconstructed decks being reprinted. Unfortunately the main commander of Evasive Maneuvers, Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, is currently unavailable on Magic Online, so we are replacing that deck with the Mind Seize preconstructed deck. As always, we love to hear from you guys! Tell us what you like to see, what you don't like, any ideas that we can put forward for future videos, or anything else you'd like to tell us!
