Commander Clash S3 Episode 5: Amonkhet Gods
Hello and welcome to Commander Clash, a video series where several MTGGoldfish contributors battle in a four player Commander game for fun and bragging rights. This week, we're celebrating the release of Amonkhet by battling with the new cycle of Gods! Here's what we've got:
- Tom summons a pestilence on the battlefield to honor Bontu the Glorified
- Jennifer grows her infect creatures into huge trampling attackers with Rhonas the Indomitable
- Seth tries to draw as many cards as possible while keeping no cards in hand with Hazoret the Fervent
- Tomer invokes the name of the moon to punish his opponents with Kefnet the Mindful
Which of the new gods will emerge victorious? Let's find out! But first, a quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Post-Game Thoughts
In typical Seth fashion, he manages to turn any deck he plays into a crazy card drawing control deck. Who would've thought Hazoret the Fervent could look so sweet? Really cool deck! I was also a fan of Tom and Jennifer's decks: I recently showcased a Erebos, God of the Dead Sacrifice deck, which really is how 99% of Bontu the Glorified decks will end up being, so it was cool that Tom found a totally different direction to take the deck.
As for Jennifer's deck, Infect has always been a controversial tactic in Commander, but I've personally never had issue with it since the vast majority of the infect creatures are pretty awful and commander damage is almost always a more optimized way of getting around life totals -- even in this game, Tom casually suited up his indestructible evasive Bontu the Glorified with Nightmare Lash, allowing him to 2-shot anyone at the table, while bemoaning Infect! Regardless of your stance on Infect, however, I think we can all agree that it was a unique way to take advantage of the extra power and trample that Rhonas the Indomitable provides.
Finally, my deck: it was sweet. I played it a bit on stream and it did some really cool things, including casting + copying Eternal Dominion a bunch of times. Is it a good deck? No. But this game was a particularly poor showing as the deck stumbled on itself throughout the entire game. It's a shame, but trust me, it usually performs better and does neat things. If you ever want to try Tribal Moonfolk, I am convinced that Eternal Dominion is one of the best ways to take advantage of what Moonfolk do.
