Commander Clash S2 Episode 20: Secret Santa

Hello and welcome to Commander Clash, a video series where several MTGGoldfish contributors battle in a four player Commander game for fun and bragging rights. This week we're celebrating the winter holidays by doing a "Secret Santa" Clash: each of us have built a holiday-themed deck and will gift it randomly to another person in the group to play! Here is what we've come up with

  • Tom captures the spirit of Christmas with a deck full of reindeer, elves, and gifts led by Mayael the Anima
  • Seth focuses on the "winter" part of the holidays with a snow-themed deck championed by Angus Mackenzie
  • Richard put together a Storm deck full of fun little stocking stuffers, with Jori En, Ruin Diver
  • Tomer has presents for those both naughty and nice, handed out by "Santa" aka Zedruu the Greathearted

This is one of our jankiest weeks, and I mean that in the best way possible! Let's see who ends up with what, and what jank will end up winning! But first, quick reminder: if you like Commander Clash and other video content here on MTGGoldfish, make sure to subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Post-Game Thoughts

I told you it would be janky! We were heavily skewed towards flavor over power. I love doing this once in a while because we get to see cards people would never usually consider running in Commander, and that's great for someone like me that's been playing Commander regularly for years now. I like seeing weird and different stuff! It's also a different dynamic when everyone's deck is low-powered; I never thought I'd ever be threatened by Hoofprints of the Stag like I was this game.

Since everyone was poo-poo'ing my "Santa" deck (aka The Grinch) as a flavor fail, I decided to throw up a poll! Who do you think had the most flavorful deck this week?

Next Week: New Years Decks!

We're celebrating the new years by making new years resolution decks! We're building decks that challenge us to leave our comfort zone and play something that we'd usually avoid playing. For example, if someone often played durdly Blue Control decks, maybe they'd play a non-Blue super Aggro deck, like that Zurgo Helmsmasher deck that people keep requesting...

As always, we love to hear from you guys! Tell us what you like to see, what you don't like, any ideas that we can put forward for future videos, or anything else you'd like to tell us! You can reach us in the comments section below or tweet me @BudgetCommander.
