Commander Brackets and Game Changers


Commander Brackets is Wizards of the Coast's Commander matchmaking system which hopes to achieves balanced gameplay. You can find a detailed breakdown here, but essentially decks are classified into five brackets:

Commander Brackets Definition

Most people will be play in Bracket 3, which would translate the current "Power Level 7". The complete list of game changers is as follows:

Loading Indicator

In our deck builder, you can now select which Bracket your Commander fits in. The deckbuilder will help you by checking its legality within the bracket.

Brackets Error

You can choose "Unspecified" to ignore the Bracket system (the current default). If no Bracket is specified (such as old, pre-existing decklists), the deckbuilder will count the number of gamechangers to assist you in determining the bracket.
