Deck Primer / Description
Are you feeling mad at the world? Is your brain tired of thinking about complicated lines of play? Do you hate other Magic players? Do you want to win at all costs in a casual format with no regard for your opponent's feelings? Do you believe Karma is BS? Do you like it when your opponent rage quits or salt ropes you? Do you need to get your 4 daily Arena wins ASAP so you can save up 1,000 gold and then immediately buy a pack?
If you answered yes to any of those questions then you came to the right place! Welcome to the Winota, Fun Police primer, a comprensive guide to making people never want to play Historic Brawl ever again.
Strategy
Get a creature on the battlefield that is not a Human.
This can be tricky because some creatures are humans and others are not. You can't always tell from the picture either. Especially if you spent all your gems on weird card styles. My advice is to read all of the words to the right of the word "Creature". If you see the word "Human" your creature will not trigger Winota's bestest ability when it attacks.Put out Winota.
This can be accomplished by making four manas. Typically this happens on turn four because by then you should have four lands, if you remembered to play one every turn. Now here's the tricky part; at least one of those manas needs to be Red an the other needs to be White. That's because Winota is a multi-colored card. She's a high-maintenance type of gal who definitely loves her horse (or giant wolf) more than you.Attack your opponent with the non-Human creature while Winota is on the battlefield.
This will trigger Winota's ultimate ability and let you look at the top 6 cards of your library and select a Human creature. About 30% of you deck is human creatures so your odds of finding at least one is >89%. Oh shoot! I'm sorry for talking about math stuff. Those numbers mean you'll find a human creature most of the time unless you get bad luck. But, which human should you put out? This requires some braining. My recommendation is to choose a human that pumps your dudes, a human that removes your opponents dudes or the biggest baddest human you have! Winota will scare that creature and make it attack. That creature also gets indestructible too for some reason (because why not).
What if that doesn't work? Is there a plan B? Yes! Put out annoying creatures and enchantments to frustrate your opponent until they don't want to play anymore. This is can be done by making your opponents spells cost more than they normally do (kind of like inflation). This is especially true if your opponent has a lot of spells that aren't creatures. Cards like Esper Sentinel, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Anointed Peacekeeper and Vryn Wingmare do this. Some jerks like to play counterspells. That's ok because spells like Paladin Class and Tithe Taker make that kind of stuff cost more. Other spells like Curse of Silence, Deafening Silence and Archon of Emeria add salt counters to your opponents total annoyance level. But be careful, because sometimes these annoying cards can be annoying to you too.
Some opponents will try and kill your creatures. Especially Winota! They don't like her for some reason. But you can protect your good creatures with helping cards like Alseid of Life's Bounty, Selfless Savior, Dauntless Bodyguard and Fight as One. The one hard thing to remember is to keep lands untapped to pay for protection spells and abilities. A super smart player might even wait to play Winota until they can protect her, but I'm aware stuff like "planning" and "being patient" is boring. Don't worry! If some of your creatures get killed that's ok. Literally half your deck is creatures so (like the mighty Russian military) you can just keep sending more and more new creatures out and hope your opponent eventually runs out of removal spells. The absolute worst is when your opponent uses a cheaty spell that kills all of your creatures. This is usually really bad because you're impulsive and played every single one your creatures so your could have a massive unstoppable army! Remember, this happens sometimes and there's absolutely nothing you could have done to minimize this catastrophe. Just quit immediately and hope your next opponent isn't a cheater.
If you made it this far, good job! That's probably the most reading you've done all week but it was probably still better than actually doing your job or school work.
