Deck Primer / Description
Summary
Shelob, Child of Ungoliant, the most powerful of the Descendents of the Great Spider. Together, with her army of spiders, all of our opponents and their creatures will be devoured! Nothing can escape our all encompassing web.
What makes Shelob Special
Six mana. 8/8. Deathtouch, ward 2. Now that is a good creature.
We also get to give all our other spiders deathtouch and ward 2. No one will want to attack into us and removing our spiders will be very obnoxious.
Shelob's last ability is the most interesting. Killing any creature with a spider turns them into a food with all of the abilities of the creature. At the very least, we get to just sac it for a few life. At best, we get powerful etb triggers, static effects, and get to use our opponents most prized possessions against them.
Gameplan
Our spiders need to find prey to turn into tokens. While they're great at discouraging blockers, the real power comes from fight spells. A Prizefight is 2 mana steal their best creature and make a treasure token. You might lose a spider on the way, but since they all have deathtouch we can lose a little tiny baby and be okay.
This makes our deck very interactive and very hard to kill us. We stop most good attacks and we kill lots of our opponents creatures. With the flexibility of stealing whatever the best creatures our opponents might play and plenty of access to life gain, we are an exceptionally resillient deck.
A potent win condition is Fynn, the Fangbearer. Since all of our spiders will have deathtouch, putting him out and connecting with a player five times kills them. No one can tap out if we have a board! And with removal spells to clear the way it is very plausible.
