Top 10 Ravnica Allegiance Commons & Uncommon Crafts!

It's that time and we're right back at it again. A new set is the best way to start off a new year. In this article I will be bringing up my 10 favorite Common and Uncommon crafts from Ravnica Allegiance that I can see being major players in the standard meta. We won't be talking about the Rares and Mythics in this article

As a disclaimer, these are cards I would personally craft exclusively for Ravnica Allegiance and aren't in any specific order. Also, this is NOT a limited review. I am not saying these cards are must crafts over Thought Erasure or other proven staples. Feel free to swing by my channel sometime and we can discuss things in greater depth!

Skewer The Critics

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Is this a surprise to anyone that this is the first card we can think of? Spectacle looks like its gonna be a sweet mechanic and red mages around the world have a lot to be excited about, as this will most likely be a one mana deal three damage spell! Also I just love the flavor text of all the Rakdos cards this set.

Quench

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Wizards of The Coast of done a great job of printing something for everyone and I know this isn't a Mana Leak but it's certainly a welcomed card. Being able to push your opponent's turn two plays to a turn four play is huge. Revolutionary Rebuff saw a little bit of play and that card was way more restricting than Quench. The issue is now to figure out how many of these go in a deck? If you're a blue mage, this goes in the win column.

Growth Spiral

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

This card is beautiful in art and in functionality. Explore was popular in standard and even sprinkled into a few older formats and it was a sorcery speed spell. This card is an instant so you can play an additional land at the end of your opponent's turn to either ramp further ahead or make it seem like you didn't go second. Growth Spiral will especially excel in the slow and durdly matches so look to this in any kind of big mana deck or maybe even Sultai Control.

Frilled Mystic

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

I didn't have the luxury of playing standard when Mystic Snake was legal but the fact that you now have to worry about tempo decks countering you and getting a 3/2 body out of it is going to put us in a pickle as open mana is always scary to see.

Rhythm of Savagery

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

This card has a lot of hype, and I understand why. Riot stacks so a creature that already has Riot gets to do it again! Ontop of that, this card makes a ton of your creatures into mini Carnage Tyrants if they have hexproof like Nullhide Ferox and Vine Mare. Oh and it turns out if we give Carnage Tyrant haste ontop of everything it also has it pretty good! The fact that it's also an enchantment is going to make it hard to answer ontop of everything else.

Pteramander

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Izzet Drakes is usually able to spin through their deck quite quickly. This drake requires a little more help but this could potentially be another threat for the Drakes deck. I also could see this going into Modern quite nicely.

Incubation // Incogruity

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Speaking of Izzet Drakes and any other Simic Tempo deck, this card is another bonkers spell to add to the deck. The front side is another cheap one mana spell that can help us dig to our next threat I.E. Crackling Drake or Frilled Mystic. Paying one mana to find a sweet counter spell seems nice. The other side of this card is at the very least another removal spell that exiles which will be key and well worth giving the opponent a 3/3 token.

Cry of the Carnarium

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Golden Demise has been good to us but the exile clause on this card makes the downside of potentially hitting your own creatures worthwhile.This is exactly what black based decks will turn to when it comes to all those pesky Afterlife effects or Judith, the Scourge Diva. This can also help us nullify the recursion of Arclight Phoenix. The often overlooked thing about this card is the text "If a creature would die this turn, exile it instead," meaning that after we wipe the board we can kill other creatures and exile those. That's very important in a Golgari matchup so you can give their Find // Finality less options along with Memorial to Folly.

Wilderness Reclamation

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

When I see this card all I can see is a card I remember seeing back when I first started playing Magic a little more seriously...Seedborn Muse. It doubles our mana and kind of pays for itself. There is a real fear of how good this will make Turbo Fog but maybe this card can make Bant or Sultai Control a thing as we can have mana up for instants like Settle The Wreckage, Chemister's Insight, or any of our counterspells like Absorb. I can also see this enabling some serious combos so lets cross our fingers and hope this isn't absurd as it seems. A thing to note is that it's another powerful enchantment to join the ranks of Experimental Frenzy, Rhythm of the Wild, and so on....hmmm maybe enchantment removal might be needed...

Mortify

$ 0.00 $ 0.00

Enchantment removal you say? Well, this reprint comes at a time where enchantments are extremely powerful and hard to interact with outside of specific answers. This card deals with power houses like Experimental Frenzy, Wilderness Reclamation, Rhythm of the Wild, Potential Cindervines out of sideboards, Theater of Horrors, and so many other powerful enchantments looming around but is also able to just be a good ol Murder that is going to be easier to cast.

Thanks for reading and I can't wait to see what cards end up breaking into all formats. Let me know what your favorite Commons and Uncommons are in the comments!

 See you at the next one!
