SDCC Magic Origins Pack Unboxing

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of the San Diego Comic Con 2015 Magic Origins Pack at the Hasbro Shop in late July when they became available (F5'ing like a madman). It finally arrived so I thought I'd share the unboxing process with you all!

The box itself is simplistic in design with the planeswalker symbol and a handle.

Inside is another box containing our five all-black foil planeswalkers from Magic Origins, as well as an artbook outlining the origins story of our five planeswalkers.

The artbook itself is 130 pages of Magic lore. It contains beautiful artwork alongside the thrilling stories.

Some the pages fold out into a two-page spread which can be used as a poster.

The book itself also comes with a built-in cloth bookmark.

Onto the cards! The box opens up into a display case featuring the five planeswalkers. It's pretty sweet and you can just use it as-is to show off the awesome collectables on your shelf.

Behind each card contains a quote from the planeswalker.

The cards themselves are double-sided and all-black. The foiling process looks super slick and the foil is colored corresponding to the planeswalker.

Here's a close up of Kytheon, Hero of Akros.

Unfortunately there's no all-black checklist card — what an oversight! The good news is since these are flip-cards, you can play with checklist cards in your deck and save these cards from the wear and tear of shuffling.

The price from Hasbro was $120 + tax which came out to be $132 for me. Unfortunately, you can longer buy these at that price since they're all sold out. On ebay, they're currently going for about $230. At $120 this set is definitely worth it given that the regular printings of the five planeswalkers are currently about $100. However, at $230 you're going to have to decide for yourself if the all-black foil shinies are worth the premium.
