Gameplan

This deck essentially is a Lorehold control deck that is hoping to survive to cast our Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Strixhaven brought us one sweet new addition.

Rip Apart is the perfect spell in the meta of Best of One as its versatility is definitely welcomed. We're able to pick off any problematic threat or deal damage to a planeswalker. If that mode isn't relevant, I'm sure killing an Embercleave or some problematic Saga is decent. The issue is the card is sorcery speed. Because of this, we just need to survive an Embercleave hit...that's all. Easy, right?

What about our non Ugin win conditions? We've got Ox of Agonas as a threat that we can reoccur to hopefully keep our yard empty against Rogues. Everytime we escape it, we also put on counters which helps our little ox friend fight against Heartless Act. All of this is wrapped up with some sweet card draw! The next card is Baneslayer Angel. You read that right. No, its not 2010. I think this card is hilarious in best of one as the threat is great against aggro but awful in most other match ups. However, the lifeline and first strike is great but the random thing people forget about is the protection from Dragons which is pretty good at fighting against a Goldspan Dragon. The only issue with Goldspan is that its a red card and that means there's a Bonecrusher Giant nearby so be mindful of that!

Conclusion

The deck can be extremely clunky but in best of one, we'll be ready for most aggro decks. The only exception is Seasoned Hallowblade. We do need more non-Ugin answers to the card in the Lorehold colors. Otherwise, the deck is a fun midrange deck that I feel is a solid tier 2. It wont beat Yorion decks as they just have too much value and can potentially control us out of the game. May the ladder pairings be in your favor.
